Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH), founded in 1852 as the UK’s first paediatric hospital, is an acute specialist hospital for children, with an international reputation for standard of clinical care, pioneering research, and its education of health care professionals. GOSH offers the widest range of paediatric specialist services in Europe (over 60 specialities and sub-specialities) which uniquely enables GOSH to diagnose and pioneer treatments for children. For example, GOSH is the leading centre for paediatric gene therapy in the world and the largest centre in Europe for children with cancer/leukaemia and epilepsy surgery. GOSH train more paediatric specialist doctors than any other centre in Europe and has Europe’s largest paediatric nurse education programme. Together, GOSH and the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health represent the largest concentration of paediatric research expertise in Europe and between 2012-2016, GOSH/ICH published over 1, 500 research papers per year and had the second highest citation impact compared to international paediatric comparator organisations.
